Dear all,

Today I noticed that a nut has fallen from the underside of the car. I am not sure from which component it is from, but is located around the front left/mid side of the car. The car is question is a 2018 RRS L494. Please see the photos below. It would truly be great if someone can give an advice on what this is. Should I be concerned about it and bring it into the dealership to get the car checked out?

I think the markings on the nut says "N 8"

Thanks

It holds the engine in, the whole drivetrain will fall out if you start it up:D
Seriously though, how do you know if actually fell off you car, its more likely that if a nut was that loose it would fall off while the car was moving, its unlikely that it would hang on and while the car was sitting still, simply fall off:(
Have you looked under the car?, you are looking for a hole with a complete bolt missing or a bolt that is still there and missing the nut. The bolt can't have fallen out until the nut came out so it may still be there if it did come from the car. That is unless it was caught in an undershield or similar but again it is unlikely that it would happen just as you parked

A needle in a haystack question??
You would have to check the car over if you are worried. :)

Flange nuts like that are often found on heat shields eg over the catalyser.
When the engine is switched off, the exhaust and any parts connected to it could shake as the engine stops, which could cause a very lose nut to drop off at that point.

Now I am no expert, but that undertray bolt has spanner/socket witness marks on it, so I would suggest someone has been working on it recently, the nut may have dropped down and been left off as they could not find it, or they just replaced it with another M8 flanged nut, of which any half tidy mech will have a few spares on tops of his box.

Typical Land Rover having a tantrum by throwing it’s nuts out the pram, ;);)
