Has anyone out there fitted a V6 24v cosworth ford granny engine to
an R380 box or fitted one to any Landrover??
Or used the Ford auto box onto a Rover transfer case pos SIII??

Need a bit of info if at all possible??

i once seen a fordie 3lt v6 in a series 2. but i didn't pay too much attention to what they had done. all i know was it had a v6 in it and an auto box. which was what made me run away. i didn't fancy an auto

Yep read that about as useful as a kick in th???
Already got the conversion ring off Steve Parkers for 2.8 V6 and it fits the 2.9 Cosworth the R380 bellhouse, ing fits except for the lower stud holes need to be redrilled on the plate
Just need a 2.8 flywheel now but evil ebay has supplied that one.
So that just leaves engine mounts and an exhaust to sort and then its on to the wiring for the ECU and fuel!.

Good luck with the ECU cos thats realy the only hard part as you got the adaptor plate sorted
What rad are you using cos i was told that the v6 like to overheat

Will be useing a 300tdi rad cus thats whats already fitted to the bowler.
The diesel should run hotter than the V6 and also the rad is fitted in the back above the fuel tank with air channeled over the roof .
Two fans are mounted on the rad.
Haven,t got a clue about the water capacity yet but it must be more than a standrard disco 300tdi.
The Cosworth nugget was doing burn outs and 360,s last week on are yard and did,nt over heat even after a 3 hour tick over it had,nt got hot.
So with luck it should be alright.

Most petrol V6's will have the thermostat set to 90c, but specialists tuners will normally have some set to 80c

I agree with Slob there.
Anyway, the amount of heat transferred to the water is proportional (more or less) to the amount of power being produced. A powerful engine needs an efficient cooling system.

If the radiator is way back in the car you may have a problem getting the water to flow fast enough to cool the engine. You may be surprised how much friction there is between water and the pipes is flows through.

If the SPEED of the flow is too slow, the water may stay in the block and head long enough to get too hot, and probably boil up.

Consider fitting a remote circulation pump to the setup, so that when the thermostat opens up the cool water from the radiator is flung into the engine instantly thus displacing to too hot water from the head back to the radiator.

It has to happen FAST, or it may boil up before anything happens to stop that.

I've never known of scorpio/granada cosworths to overheat engine wise but the autobox's are crap and do suffer from cooler problems,I can't see any benifits from using this engine over a tuned v8 though?
