Footwell Rot

Hello,

Just been working on my fuel tank and ripped the carpet up to get at the floor panel and I've found that my small footwell hole has turned into a big patch of rust. I can easily punch a screwdriver through it, and I reckon that I'd be able to punch my fist through it (it's a relatively large area, down in bottom left corner on the slopey uppy bit). Can I weld a new panel in here or is it likely to be beyond repair I ask worryingly?

cut all the rot out plus about 6mm and weld a plate in its place

That I shall! I keep forgetting that you can repair anything with a new panel of fresh steel on a land rover
