Floor support beams

quick question; is it possible to replace these floor support beams on the rear of a 109 WITHOUT lifting the body?
I have done the big one on the station wagon but the shot ones, well i have to admit cursing a bit, especially when my mate hit my thumb with a hammer, and then did same to the middle finger of my left hand....

Are you talking about the outriggers?

No, these are the 3 foot long pressed metal channel about 5 inches wide that span from chassis to chassis inside the chassis rail, which support the rear floor.
on a station wagon the front one is bout 5 foot long and square in the lower section and about 5 inched wide.

I've not done it, but yes you can - damn fiddly though in situ apparently.

I know the ones you mean now.

One helluva heavy, fiddly job in situ ... allegedly

However, if you've got the gear and some assistance you should be OK.

I was told it was possible by using a jack or pair of jacks and then chocking the body up but it looked damn near impossible to get enough clearance to me

From memory I think they are rivetted to the inner tub edge so they need drilled out. They are wedged between the chassis rails and the tub edge. You might be able to batter them out one side at a time. I took the floor of mine out and now have a removable floor which makes for easy access on to the rear axle and chassis etc.

I'm sure I read somewhere that you can drill the rivets out and then use 3 pieces of wood and two jacks to carefully 'flex' the floor to allow you to slide them out and new ones in. I believe one piece of wood was to be the width of the tub floor and a further two to act as jacking posts at each end to raise the wooden frame.

Sounds a bit Heath Robinson but I recall it worked.
