FL2 HDL fault - ABS sensor?

Hello all. Since last week i am a proud owner of freelander 2, pre facelift 2009, 190k KM on clock. Since the first ride I noticed that when I am turning on highway, and at the same time rapidly accelerate with second gear, i feel a little wiggle in my acceleration pedal, as well as a little lack of power and traction control light flasihing (yellow light, cicrcle with a triangle inside). Didn't pay much attention to it, but today was my first ride to city and things got a lot worse.
Today I made a right hand turn, everything fine with first gear, but when i switched to second, pedal to the floor and nothing, the car didn't rev up, and the light was flashing again. After finishing the maneuver, I decided to push the DSC button, to disable the traction control system, but as I was breaking at the traffic light, i felt that my ABS system is working on the brake pedal without a single reason. So when the traffic light turned green, I started to accelerate, first gear ok, second gear - no enginge power until the ''HLD system fault'' appeared on dashboard, and didn't go away. But for now it is better, because with this fault on, I can at least drive properly, since I have a 500km trip ahead tomorrow.

I suspect that one of ABS sensors have gone bad. The faulty sensor could be giving wrong speed signals to car, therefore the car thinks that one wheel is slipping and reduces power to that particular wheel. Also, ABS engaging in a situation when there is not a single reason to do that is an indication of a bad sensor.

Could I be right? If so, is there any way to tell which of ABS sensors have gone bad? And are they a DIY fix, if I have a small garage with tools?

Will definitely do that once I finish my trip back home. A friend of mine does have all the readers to both determine the problem, and if it is a ABS sensor, to tell which one of 4 it is. But driving those 500 km with a HDL fault wouldn't be a potential harm, right? As far as I understand, the car just disables ABS and Traction control system, therefore car runs fine again, just without these systems.

I don't actually know what HDL is, my FL2 has HDC.

Im sorry, of course it is HDC. So HDC gone, ABS gone, DSC gone. All of them are important, but as far as understand, It should be more or less safe to travel back home. If I am wrong, please do say so before I have started. Will keep this post updated once I run diagnostics and fix the issue. Thank you, Nodge!

It should be ok to drive, but be aware that none of the traction systems will work.

As promised- an update on my 3light situation. Did the diagnostics, and as I had suspected - it showed that front left wheel ABS sensor had failed. With that there was another fault - U0418-68 (Invalid data received from the brake system control module), but I suspect that this fault was caused by the first fault. I also checked the sensor output data while driving - it showed zero all the time.

Ordered a new sensor, swapped it, but faults didn't go away. When plugging the diagnostics tool again, the same fault appeared. Even after deleting these faults, thy came up again in a matter of minutes. The front left sensor still sat at 0 km/h even when driving. So there might be 2 potential problems causing this -
1) Bad ABS ring on front left bearing
2) Problem in wiring between sensor and module.

I will start to further tackle this problem on friday, but before that, 2 quick questions:
A) Can ABS ring be inspected visually without removing the bearing from car?
B) Is there any diagramm showing ABS wiring for left front wheel? I managed to unplug the old sensor right under the wheel arh cover, but since problem could be somewhere deeper, It would be great if i wouldn't have to remove the arch and trace the wires, but I could just use a multimeter on both ends to see if the wires are ok.

Some help needed, otherwise im left in the dark. Since putting on a new ABS sensor to my front left wheel didn't solve the ABS issue and even after deleting the faults they came right back, I started to think of 3 possible problems.
A) Bad wiring harness
B) Bad ABS ring on bearing
C) Bad ABS module

After doing some research, I understood that FL2 has an active ABS sensors, therefore it is not possible to hook up the multimeter to sensor and check if it is giving the right resistance. Therefore I checked if there was voltage present from wiring harness when ignition was activated. And there was voltage present. So in my mind - if there is voltage when ignition is activated, the ABS module and harness are good (right?). I have installed a brand new ABS sensor so that should be good as well. The only option I am left is the bearing replacement. Before ordering a new hub, I removed the ABS sensor and looked through the little hole - there was some rust/dirt on the ring, but it looks like it has been there for a while. From the first sighting of random DSC light to constant 3 amigos and diagnostics showing constant 0 at speed sensor, it took only 4 days. Could a new front bearing really solve this issue? For me it seems unlikely for ring to go from '' all good '' to '' 0 km/h'' in such a short period of time. Is there something else I should check?

Could you swap sensors around, see if fault follows sensor.

He uses a 220 ohm resistor and led to check to output pulses ok.

Fixed - It turned out to be the front left bearing. The ABS ring wasn't damaged, but it was all covered in small metal particles, some oil and rust. Bearing replaced, now freelander rides like new, even the whining noise that I thought was my rear differential is gone.

False hope. After 80km, my 3 friends came back again on a straight road, cruising at around 70kmph. Haven't yet done the diagnostics since my friend with reader is down with covid now. But I am very sure it is again left front wheel speed 0, and it is veeeery unlikely that 80km after supposed fix, different wheel sensor would die. I quickly removed the front left wheel, pulled out ABS sensor, looked at the new bearing through the hole, removed and re-attached the sensor to the plug, did the hard reset, problem still there. I know that it is hard to give any advice before making 100% sure that it is again the same sensor. But if it is, what else could be the problem? ABS module (there were no codes about module, just an error with front left speed sensor, showing zero also on live data)? It could be wiring, but this is where I am left in the dark - removed the inner arch trim, saw the place where wiring enters engine bay, but couldn't find where it goes further to inspect the rest of hiring. Does it attach to ABS module, and how can I acces the harness? Any other potential wiring that I should check?
