Hi all,

Recently bought a Freelander 2 with an ABS fault and three amigo lights, which was remedied with a new ABS pump. Now one light remains and “HDC fault” displays on the dash.

Did a little research and so far have tried changing the Hill decent/traction control panel (in front of gear knob) which hasn’t helped unfortunately.

Next thing I was going to try was the brake light switch, but wondered if there were any tricks to replacing it as the access is very tight - or does the lower trim need removing? Appears there’s an air bag in the area so have been reluctant to remove trim so far.

Appreciate any help and HDC fault suggestions if the switch doesn’t do the trick.

All the best,

George

Ideally it needs to have a proper diagnostic session to see what is causing the issue.

Was the ABS ECM replaced with the ABS unit?
From memory the ABS ECM holds the VIN, which can prevent things from working, including preventing the engine from starting sometimes too.

I believe so, it refused to start initially but a friend coded the ABS module to the car and it now starts. Just stuck with the HDC fault.

cheers

I have the same HDC light on after outing it in to drive changed the break switch and still there diamagnetic tells me it’s the “A circlet fault but bony know where to start to sort it out . Did try to take out the natural safety switch and clean it but still no not so I am stuck with the fail , drives ok so will live with it till I get the funds to book it in

I'd get the codes read, as the HDC system is fully electronic, and has massive integration into the vehicle. There's no guarantee that the replacement ABS module is any good, or even compatible with your model year, and simply replacing parts willy nilly isn't going to help.
It needs proper diagnosis, preferably using JLR SDD, which is able to find the issue, and do any necessary programming, or at least tell you what is causing the issue.
