My 2008 diesel FL2 decided to just cut out last night when I came to a stop at some traffic lights (car had only travelled a mile after being stood all day) It restarted immediately and as I got through the lights it cut out again and I coasted to a stop.

After reading the threads on this forum there was one from 2022 which describes what I was experiencing and it was suggesting that the crank sensor needs to be replaced which is behind the drivers side wheel arch. Can somebody show me what this sensor looks like as the sensor I am bringing u looks like one I replaced a while back but it was at the top of the engine and was again some sort of crank sensor.

Thanks

There are several things that can cause cutting out, the crank sensor being one.
Here it is, both plugged in and unplugged. It's not always the sensor however, as the plug can also suffer from bad connections.

Thanks @Nodge68 car is now running sweet as a nut.
I did however managed to bend a running board support as I missed the jacking point as it was raining. So that will be my next job lol

@Anaconda yeah it was the crank sensor. I thought it was a gear box issue at first but just glad I found this forum and was pointed towards the light lol

Just a £25 fix 😊

I'm presuming at that cost the part is an aftermarket sensor, (LR056028) usually are anything from £60 upwards depending where you purchase from, do let us know if it lasts, say report back in about 2 months or so please.

This is the part I used. 12 month warranty

Time will tell but it was urgently needed and local store had one in
