I currently own a 2010 FR2 ( 140K + miles) which has reached it economical repair end point.

However I’d like to replace it with a FR2 which has low mileage ( less than 50’000 miles). post 2014 model. I’ve seen some low miles ones for sale. Some with as low ad 30’000 which seems incredibly low for a 10 year old vehicle.

With such low mileage is there anything I need to look out for? My thoughts are seals or rubbers drying out due to infrequent use. I’m not an engineer so any repairs are done at a garage.

Why is a 140 k miles FL2 beyond economical repair? That's less than half its expected life span, unless it's heavily corroded?
Mine is at 138 k and drives as good as it did when it was new. 140k is nothing for a well maintained FL2.
 
Because it now needs some repairs which are close to the value of the car. I’ve already spent quite a bit of money on replacement items so it’s turning into a bit of a money pit. I’ve already had done over the past 4 years.

- new rear diff
- new brake mounts
- complete steering units because the steering fluid pipes had split and had rusted to nuts due to LR using dissimilar metals with no separation.
Plus other stuff.

Mine has been serviced as recommended at LR dealer or independent LR specialist and well maintained even if it hasn’t been washed regularly. There’s no corrosion.

Personally, I love the FL2 . It’s close to the perfect small SUV. That’s why I’ve kept so long ( brought at 9 months old) and want to replace it with another FL2 rather than a Disco sport or new LR Defender

Sell to offset the cost of a later FL2 which at the moment at least are holding their prices but i think that will change after this year.

On later FL2 models, why do you think they will drop there value next year? Is it because they will be 10+ years old and this is a threshold.

Currently a decent late model FL2 with low mileage are £15K +

If you've replaced all the stuff that wears, I can't see the logic it letting someone else benefit from it. You'll likely have to replace it all again on the new one, as they all suffer the same issues.
If there's no corrosion, and you've fixed all the stuff that wears, then there's another 150k miles left in it.

If needs servicing much more often than LR say, especially the drive train. 30k miles for all fluids is much more sensible than the 150k LR say.

Mine is at a similar miles, and I've no intention of getting rid for at least another 3 years. I'm getting my money's worth out of it.

You need to look that the belt was done, and all the stufs are working.

The EGR can leak, better if has been changed.

The Mot should be with no advice at all.

2014 models have some options like reversing camera that are good to have. Pay attention that ED4 are only front wheel drive.

I appreciate what you are saying but it doesn’t answer my original question.
Low mileage at 10 years means short journeys, which can cause issues for the DPF.
Obviously you'll be looking at potentially replacing the diff at 70 to 100k.
Servicing the drive line components at 30k miles will help extend diff and PTU life, don't forget to replace the timing belt at 70k or 6 yearly intervals instead of the early cars 150k or 10 years.

One further question. Does anyone know what tyres the late FL2 were fitted with out of the factory? We’re they the same as FL2

I know from experience that fitting the cheaper tyres results in excessive and uncomfortable road noise. Fortunately I was able to swap mine back as the cheaper tyres had been recommended by a LR dealership.
 
Beyond economic repair in my opinion is when the cost of keeping my 17 year old FL2 with almost 227,000 miles on the clock would exceed the cost of buying a replacement. Like the OP I would happily trade mine in for a 2014 model, but good ones are hard to find and are holding their value well. £12 to £15 to buy and it will STILL require the same maintenance as my current car. Tyres, belts, shocks, discs & batteries all wear out just as fast on a 10 year old FL2 as a 17 year old model. Follow @Nodge68's sage advice regarding drivetrain maintenance and 250k~300k miles should be achievable, though driving style can wreck any drivetrain in short order.
Best of luck in your endeavours to find a replacement though. Just remember, you may be buying someone else's problems.

Original tyres were either Goodyear Wrangler HP AW or sometimes Continentals. Checking what tyre make the spare is, is often a good clue as to what it left the factory with. It's also sometimes stored on the original build sheet held on file with LR too
