Hi. My Clutch Slave Master has a large rubber-bulge on the cap's inside, which displaces a lot of the oil when fitted. What is the purpose of this large rubber-cap? What if I removed it? Leaving the cap on its own.
It would allow a larger amount of fluid in the Master Slave unit.
But might there be a problem if the rubber-bulge was removed?
Thanks.

My clutch is yet to be repaired. But until then, my clutch periodically loses oil. The reservoir only has so much oil, and the large rubber bulge reduces the amount of oil held in the reservoir. My question is, why the heck is there a huge rubber bulge stuck to the cap that intrudes into the reservoir, thus reducing the amount of oil held in capacity. In addition to this, I have since, using a pair of scissors, removed the rubber bulge - and guess what? No more problems!

the idea of the rubber "bulge" is to keep air away from the dot 4 fluid to stop it attracting moisture, as the fluid level rises and falls with the operation of the clutch pedal the "bulge" allows changes in fluid level

If the clutch slave lose oil, don't put oil in the master is useless.
One day I was in the middle traffic, the pedal goes directly to the floor, the clutch was losing oil each time I was hitting the pedal.
Getting to the garage without changing gear, it was a very long trip.

So you should repair it as soon as possible.

Same as what happened to mine. Getting fixed next week.
