Hi all,
I have a Freelander 1.8 petrol 1998 which has an annoying fault... The engine always starts reliably when cold (albeit not on all cylinders for the first 30 seconds or so). Once it's fully up to temperature and nice and hot, I can re-start it absolutely fine on all cylinders right from the start.
However, the engine won't start at all when merely warm. So for example if I stop off on the way home to do some shopping and the thing is turned off for say 20-30m, then no amount of cranking will get the bugger to fire up and it's a case of coming back the next morning by which time it's fully cold and all is fine again.
It's had new plugs, distributor cap/rotor and HT leads fitted.
Any ideas what the problem could be here?

I did re-check and it hasn't really been covered in any depth. The best advice I got was to re-post it here where the real FL gurus hang out...

Huh, weird . Have you tried searching on the MG Rover forums? They have lots more K series experts there :). It's not a problem I've had so i don't know where to point you. But I know it's happened before, so there must be a solution somewhere on the interwebs :).

No idea if this will help you but I have just changed spark plugs for expensive correct ones - Bosch with very fine electrode. In past always went for the basic cheapest I could find. Point of story is that she is running and starting much better, smoother to the extent that have stopped buying the higher octane juice - started doing this a couple of years ago as ran smoother but now no need.

my arse..................your face:p

Good suggestions, my camshaft sensor went and it caused quite a bit of grief. ECU may not always pick up the fault.
