fitting wind deflectors - this cant be right can it?

Hi all, just before my td5 went I pinched the climair wind deflectors off it to fit to my new tdci, but im having trouble getting them to fit, is it possible that the tdci have different deflectors? the trouble im having is the rubber strip along the bottom of the window, the only way Ive got them to fit is to bend the rubber strip out like this:

and even then they dont fit in the top properly like this:

so I tried winding the window up slowly to see if they would seat better but there was a plastic cracking sound and i pussied out winding them up further (electric windows! expensive I bet) so i whipped them back out quickly. any help on fitting them or are there specific ones for TDCi defenders??

looks to me like you have em fitted too far in. Only the outer flange should be tucked into the weather strip.

right ive got a bit closer, then this happened:

:doh: they fitted tidy, but as I did the window up there isnt enough room there for the deflector and the window to fit at the back of the window/door, fits at the front?! the motor started dogging out and there was a plastic crack noise, obviously I stopped immediately as the motor was dying to stop damage, why isnt there enough gap? can I make it wider?
 
Still not clear where you are trying to fit them, they slot in the first gap on the inside edge of the outer door skin.

Use some vaseline and a putty knife to flex the channel and if they have been made correctly they will fit OK.

Do this in warm weather or with some general heat to the perspex or the will shatter, do not adjust them or cut as this will put a stress point in and they will snap.

I know all this from making a hash of it first time.

Also you need to remove the window glass location button - it was this that threw me. They will not fit where intended with this in place - sadly the one I purchased came with no instructions of any kind and I thought you were left to make the final adjustments yourself, which resulted in a deflector in two halves.

fook knows how you managed that i got the same on mine front and back doors, as ratty says about 5 minutes to fit all 4 :rolleyes:
