Hi all. I am looking to fit all terrain terrain terrafirma shocks to the discovery 2. I have put the car on axle stands and applied penetration fluid to the nuts that are needing removed. Excess crud has been removed with a wire brush whilst applying the lubricant.
I have not removed the old shocks as yet as darkness and rain set in but looking at the new shocks, they do not seem to have any rubber mounts at the base and top. Is this correct or do I have to purchase these separately ?

The ones I got had bushes fitted...

Are you sure you bought D2 shocks? Can you post a pic or part numbers?

I popped them out of the box and was looking for rubber bushes. I think I may have mistaken poly bushes sprayed silver for just raw metal. My mistake.
Could you tell me though, how did you manage to get the inner most nuts of the upper turret. Did you use a long extension bar with a 13mm socket on it?
Also can you use an impact socket and regular extender with an impact socket or is this dangerous?

Cheers in advance.

when i replaced mine i took the front turrets off, 1 was blowing with rust, the other was like new, so painted em whilst off, waxoyled, then fitted the new shocks, also they were bound tight/closed i only cut the band once i was ready to bolt back in place

Sorry for being ignorant, which band are you talking about?

You dont need to undo the turret just to change shocks.just done all 4 and springs on mine.

I use impact sockets on regular extensions all the time, if you want to be safe use eye protection...

And yes, to get at the lower shock bolts I used long extensions from the top.

Cheers. I think I will get a regular 350mm extender and use a breaker bar for safety. Good point about the eye glasses and ear defenders, I tend to forget. Will let you all know how I get on.

Well I got the two front ones done today but busted one nut that holds the bracket that keeps the ace pipes out of the way. Just cleaning up the thing with rust remover before, drilling out the bolt.
Thanks for the help so,far.
Now how many bolts to remove the rear shocks?
