Finally got my roof on today. Got my son to help me lift it up and on the top,, then away he went as usual leaving me on my own.
Anyway took a bit of faffing about to finally get the holes lined up, there is a piece that sticks out nearer the front, now was not sure about this but the only way it would line up was to slide it down in-between the seals on top of side panel. Only problem is it leaves a gap between where it ends and where next bolt is tightened up, as in pics.
Have I done this Right, or have I made a mistake as usual ??

Most of it looks ok to me. What is the roof off? Them white bits that stick down, are usually for the door seals to mount onto. If yours has 4, then the rear 2 need removing as yours is only a 2 door. Isn’t it?

Yuor spot on there Mick, Roof is off 4 door going on to 2 door, Dam why didn't I think of that. There's only a couple of bolts in so can easily loosen of and lift up. Just hope I haven't damaged anything by pushing them down between seals on top of the sides. Now best way to take them off, ?? Ther was 2 bolts in each but after taking them out they look fixed / welded on so think only option is with grinder and Steady Hand

I’m not certain, but I think they are on with rivets. If not, it will be spot welds.

It may have damaged the seals, but I would be removing the roof to remove them bits, so can inspect the seals at the same time.

No spot welds or rivets, that I could see anyway, ground all paint work off first, to be honest they looked like they had been welded all the way round, so just got the grinder and cut them off carefully.
Gap closes right down now all the way along both sides.
Still only put a couple of bolts in for now before I put windscreen up.
Should I put some kind of Sealant on before I finally bolt roof down, ? doesn't look like there was any on it before though.

Seal around the alpine windows, but use the proper seals for the roof to sides, sides to tub, roof to windscreen, windscreen to bulkhead. I didn’t apply sealant to any of them joints, apart from between the door seal and windscreen to bulkhead to seal. Only leak I had was the alpines, sealed and no leaks at all now.

Roof to side and sides to tub already have seals in they look good so not gonna change them, running out of funds now so trying not to fix what aint broken,;)
I've ordered roof to windscreen and to bulkhead will be here tomorrow only a tenner for the 2.
What sealant did you use for windscreen to bulkead, ? mine has had something on at some time, white in colour not sure what it was.
Where the lips for the door rubbers meet the same lips on the roof, you will have a gap in the top corners and at the joint, tub to side panel. Get some dum dum and close these gaps up before fitting door rubbers.
dum dum ?? Never heard of it:D

Not sure what the white stuff was. I used a glass sealer from screwfix to seal between the windscreen seal and door seal.

I would be very dubious about building using old seals, as you will be doing the work twice if they don’t work.

Thank you for making me feel very old :(
You could use the non setting sealant used in the back door window like i did.

Right think I know what I need now.
Will try and get windscreen frame offered up and get a few bolts in loosly, then put doors on and hopefully get everything, gaps ect Lined up to finally bolt down.
Well that's the plan anyway
