Hi,
This is the first time i've registered here, the reason being i (the wife) of a Landrover Defender 90, 1985, B reg owner have never seen enersia seatbelts in use with rear seats, but my other half would like them so we don't have to keep altering normal belts to fit every time someone different sits in the back.

My question is "does anyone know if they can be fitted and can you only put lap belts in or full three point belts?

We have inward facing cloth seats. Hope this makes sense to you all.

Awaiting your replies.

Welcome chap & family.

Tricky one. Exmoor trim do seatbelt kits + bracketry, but for forward facers. I'd reckon lap belts are a definite no-no as the human body bends in the middle & in an impact with a lap belt you'd be facing massive spinal injuries (was reading about it a couple of days ago on some government website).

Depends if you want convenience or safety I guess. I'm not a great fan of inward facing seats so I'd say ditch them & get some forward facing fold downs.

If the current method of adjusting the existing fitments does seem to restrain your passengers, for the sake of a few seconds I can't see much advantage to fitting inertia reel belts & can't see they'd add much in the event of a front collision.

As has been discussed on here quite a few times (try a search), so much depends on the type of collision which obviously you can't predict. The general consensus seems to be any restraint is better than none at all, but when it comes to lap belts, I ain't so sure!

Hope that helps..........a bit?

Like Marcus I read somewhere that 3 point harness belts fitted to side facing seats are not recommended, they can do more harm than good. I'd do some more homework before committing yourself.

Aren't they a MOT test failure if they're fitted anyway? Seem to remember something about that on here (or the temporary forum) a little while ago. Can't find it searching on here - so must have been on temp one.

Cheers,
