I have a 265/75 r16 alloy wheel to fit on a swingaway spare wheel carrier. The studs that go through the spare are short.... I am guessing that I need 3 hollow threaded studs to secure the wheel to the carrier studs??

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to secure the larger than standard wheel to the swing away please? Many thanks..:)

i would guess thats wot ya need, this is a steel modular fitted and there was plenty of thread showing

Cheers Wilts but the problem with the alloy is that it is pretty much flush with the tyre wall and that makes the studs short..... unless I put the wheel shiny side in... but that cant be right?

PS..... when you fitted yours did you leave the original strenthening plate on the back door as it was and just cut the studs off or did you fit the plate that came with it?

yeh just cut off studs

ive got a 255 fitted to mine no probs on a freestyle alloy

Having had another look it looks like the only way it will fit is 'alloy' side of the wheel towards the door as clearance is needed for the swing away behind the wheel.
Will leave it today as I am going to a show in Yorkshire tomorrow.... sure I will see similar wheels fitted..... a spare wheel cover will sort it:doh:
