Hello, Ive been fitting or attempting to fit a 300tdi engine into my 1990 RRC that was a 2.5 vm engined model.
Dont want to sound a bit thick but is the crank bolt the centre point of the engine? As I have measured between the 2 chassis legs to find the central position and lined the engine and crank bolt in line with the marking, only to find that there is no room to weld one of the mounts to the chassis.
Would be grateful any advise please.
Thanks.

Boy this takes me back a bit, I fitted a 200tdi out of a disco in my 89 classic 20 years ago and as I remember made cardboard templates of the disco engine mounts had them cut out of steel plate and I welded them up to fit to RR chassis after cutting originals off so chances are the engine isn`t dead center, you might get a clue if using the rad out of a disco getting fan to line up to cowl other than that see if you can have a look under the bonnet of a disco.

No guarantee the engine is centred in the engine bay from the factory. Is the transmission still in the vehicle? If so measure up the spigot shaft against the chassis rails. Might be a good idea anyway as it would be a shame to go to all the trouble of sorting out the engine mounts to find the gearbox is off set 2” to one side!

I could only find one picture from last time I worked on a 300TDI, it looks like the crank sits a little to the left.
