Fitted me snorkel today southdown all plumbed in sealed up nicely but when started up and cover the top it squashes the pipe but engine keeps running.

Cant see where it could be seeping in.

Is that normal or should it cut out

it should cut out if fitted properly. check hose and connections. start at the engine and work out.

Might sound stupid, but did you leave the sealant long enough to go off. Sounds like it drawing air still.

not sure what the td5's airfilter housing's like, but on the 300 you have a little oneway valve thats supposed to let water etc out, maybe check if thats not passing...? If its collapsing the pipe I'm sure i'll be fine though... (but dont quote me on that!!!)

As he has a 300 in his pic I'd think it was a 300 ;)

Did you seal up the airbox holes properly ? Seal the 90* joint ? Clamp and seal the silicone ply air pipe to metal and check the box to turbo connection ?

 My bad!!! So, if you have sealed it "properly" you would be able to physically smother the engine then?? I'm assuming this wouldn't do it much good tho...? :scratching_chin:

Il check it again tomoz and update but everthing is tight and sealed so must have missed something

Air box is caked in sealent.all holes covered where pipe connect sealed and clamped.

Will retrace tomoz

Cheers guys

You should be able to get it to die off but not totally IIRC, air will always find a way in unless you go all out with sealant everywhere but it should slow it down

So if it doesn't totally die off you should still be ok doing a water crossings etc?? Tiger seal is a beast though, worth the money!!
Have you had her in the drink yet to test it???

So if it dont cut out still will it be ok in water.im laning tomoz and corwen carwash is on the cards so just want be sure itl be ok.or should i put more tiger seal on it.

Paul excellent thread pal.mines in exactly the same way i havent got the wing trim.the snorkel head is turned to face the back. The small holes in aire box are small nuts n bolts with washers on tiger sealed on both sides. Water tipped in nothing came out until i tipped it out.the stainless pipe is rivetted to the a post and the flexi pipe runs inside the wing to the air box.no reducer tho as my pipe fits over the hole.was a tight fit so just sealed it up in and out and jubilee clipped.at looking at it again this morning it is all sealed up good.turbo pipe is fine sealed to air box no rips or tears. Air box sealed holes covered pipe is fine but still upon covering the snorkel top with a bag it doesnt die.it crushes the turbo pipe and the snorkel pipe and whistles.
