Blow me these things are fun! I've only ever had old Minis, never much cared for anything else. Then recently with going to the farm daily and the private roads there getting so bad we decided to get something a bit more rugged.
Ended up with a 110 Defender County S/W and my word is it fun! We used to have to crawl along the lanes at 5mph in the little Peugeot because it just couldn't handle it. But not now! Blimey you can zip along at 30-40 no problems!
And that knowing feeling, the one where its snowing/flooded/etc and you pass by another landy owner and theres a firm nod of understanding, kind of a "yeah, neither of us are gonna have any trouble" nod.
And windey windows! Boy have I missed those! I'm absolutley loving land rover ownership, well it has its problems (first it wouldn't start, now it runs without the key in!) but its just so much fun.
I never thought anyone would get me out of a little old Mini and into a multi-ton land rover, but its happened, I'm converted! I mean really, if you're going anywhere off the main road or needing to haul alot of stuff around, its just better it really is.
Blimey those doors don't half rot though ey! Each one needs slamming and I've had to lock the boot to stop it flying open as we're going along!
We're oop north in Billingham (Near stockton/middlesbrough) and I think my mum is quite keen to have a go offroading in it! She certainly has enjoyed driving it up/down the country lanes.
Anyway just though I'd introduce myself, been quite a while since I've been involved in a car-community type thing but I'll try not to do/say owt daft
