Finally got the yellow series 3 diesel started and took it for a quick run after being stood for four years.

I brought it about 4 months ago and have replaced all brake components, Lots of wiring, New diesel pump and other various bits.

During the drive i noticed a few things.

Firstly my indicators flash veeerrrrrrryyyy slowly.
Secondly i have no brake lights
The light to the left of the heater switch is constantly on (what the hell is this light)
My heater has stopped working probably loose wire.
My temperature gauge sits in the hot zone
Oh and one tail light out (but probably a bulb)

Does anyone no the answer to these riddles :)

Slow indicators are caused by poor connections/earths or a buggered flasher unit.
Brake light switch not working? Short out the switch contacts and see if the lights come on.
Mine's a petrol but I think this could be the low fuel light fitted to the diesel.
Or motor is seized.
Sensor buggered or regulator firked. Does the fuel gauge work?
Probably, or poor connection.

Havent investigated indicators yet. (but the work fine when cold!!!)
With the ignition on and putting a wire between the brake switch wires did nothing :(
Fan has fixed itself
Fuel gauge reads quarter of a tank but no idea. The temp gauge goes just above the N when the ignition is on and then slowly rises into the hot as the engine warms up. Gauge or sender??

Cheers

Next question - is there any fuel in the tank? If the fuel gauge and temp gauge are both reading high then the regulator probably needs replacing - there was a thread a while back about replacing the reg with a solid state one, more reliable and a lot cheaper. Find an old bulb holder and a couple of croc clips and you can make a simple tester that will let you track the brake light problem - see if there's any volts at the switch. Do you have the wiring diagram?
