Me and my buddy have both recently discoverd the love of discoverys he has been the first to get 1 while I am lagging still trying to sell my Honda type r :-(
Any how...... We took his down a few green lanes for the first time today and all I can say is FU!KING HELL I have never had so much fun off of two wheels :) it was awsome and amazed at how capable a 100% STD disco is :)
Right we got a os map and went for roads marked +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- and all marked byway from my understanding these r fair game? There was a few that went through fields r these ok to drive and a few had gates on r we ok to go through gates?

Cheers

yes mate. there is loads of info on here about where u can go. gates are fine and as a general rule if it says byway then its fine. best bet is to get a good map and check with your local council. or ask daft ;-)

We thought it would be best just to stay away from fields and farm houses even when they r very clearly marked as byway as we just don't wanna tread on ppls toes and stayed away from anything that looked like it could be trouble lol

Don't go out alone... there are a few on here...myself included that can relate stories about being stuck for long periods and when it happens it ain't funny, not to the driver anyway... bloody hysterical to every one else though.

It takes nothing for one vehicle to get stuck... and it can happen to anyone... Nellie and I are prime examples.

You don't even need to get stuck... try calling the AA and letting them know that you've broken down on a green lane... they'll **** 'emselves laughing before they help.

Byways will either be open or will have restrictions that may or may not be posted... check with the local row officer if you want to be sure. Remember that if you cock up and use lanes that you are not legally permitted to drive then your vehicle can be impounded and nasty great fines included.

Best thing to do is ask on here for people around your way who go out laning a bit, and go together. Honest... you'll learn a lot...

If you want to go out on your own and play in the mud... go to a play and play.

You're welcome. There's a whole lot of green laners in Essex that go out regularly, and if you fancy heading into Herts some of us are out regualrly too. Surrey has a load of wonderful lanes and a group of LZ in Surrey are always out and about... pm Kris300tdi if you fancy a run round the M25 early in the morning for a great day out.
