I had a look there, I personaly would be asking many more questions before I considered buying it.

If the engine was in good nick, rust was under control, wasn't going to need outriggers, a rear x-member, or a new bulkhead in the near future, the running gear was working well, then, yeah I guess it would be a good LR.

Hi Disco,
Yeah, havent gone to see it yet,was just hoping some of the knowledgable users might make comments eg on viewing if no rust fair price or no way in 1985 they were all getting ****ed on the factory line !! etc

Basicly, when you look under at the chassis, there are some obvious moutings for various things along both sides of the main chassis. Some are box looking things some are tubes with brackets on them, if these are looking in bad shape then there going to need done sooner or later.

If its just the tube outriggers then thats not a big deal, these can be got for £17ish a side and just need someone who can weld to weld them on... others such as the bulkhead outriggers are damn difficult to do without taking the bulkhead off.

The rear crossmember, or bumper as some may look at it, it prone to rusting away at the back, and then you end up with lots of holes and it becomes weak for towing etc...

If its just passed an MOT recently, then it can't be that bad!

I suggest you get a survey on the vehicle. Cost from- selection on Auto Trader website -100 quid inc vat. You get a written report which may help you barter over price even save yourself the cost. Ask seller do they mind, if they do just walk away . Remember "Pennywise --Poundfoolish" Afew quid now could save hundreds in the future. Good luck . BB

well yellow disco your 20 quid gets a database check and if the vehicle has been repaired without informing or claiming from the insurance co. It wont show up. The same applies if the vehicle is spoked before the first Mot. As tookey says his knowlege about mechanics is limited for his 100 quid someone looks at the vehicle and gives a written report on its condition. Oh Dear Whoops READ WHAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR. To a person with little or no mechanical knowledge. I know which is the better value.and its not the 20 quid Cheapskate option, A fool and his money are easily parted.
