L322 FFS what now

Been getting an engine wobble like a mild misfire Intermittently on tickover and at 50-60mph. Sports mode revs rise and drives through it. But black smoke on acceleration at times but worked out likely the injectors need an overhaul. So that's next job

But today replaced rear door light bulb and like a **** left rear door open slightly.

Leave for work (cars cold) and battery has gone low. But second turn spins over n over n over then splutters n fires yay all good.

In traffic not 2 minutes later got white smoke puffing out back. Bollox

Pull over can't smell oil in it or sweet coolant check coolant and oil level all good. Pray it's unburnt fuel from lack of power and no glow plugs kicking in when started.Then it disappears soon as it started.
Limp home and swap cars. Sort it later

This am decide take it to yard to look at starts up fine thank god and seems all sweet no smoke or judder nothing hmmm

Driving to yard about 10mins and PING coolant temperature warning and see guage approaching top line into red. And have no power

Slow her down and pull in safe and temperature drops straight to normal. Try again and as it seems to hit boost. Temp rises up again. Uh oh

Heaters on full blast but getting no warm air and under bonnet top hose red hot heater hoses cold hmmmm hear expansion bottle bubbling and rad fans going full speed so let it settle down and wait for it to cool off and pray battery get me going again.

Open cap slightly see if level check earlier has given it an air lock ??? Hisses away a bit and heater hoses are getting hot now. Yay.

Got it back home now slow n steady and have the joy of instead of ripping injectors out I gotta start yet another investigation into possible head gasket.

Said to Mrs love this car and you can bury me in it but didn't realise it was gonna be the death of me first.

Going to bed and hope i wake up to realise it's just a bad dream. X

I would explore the easier options before going balls deep just yet, but if it overheats regular that is one way to kill a head.
If you know someone with diagnostics nows the time to buy them cake, but pretty pointless with iffy battery as it will throw phantoms

Could just be a sticky thermostat, check the simple stuff first,

I know ya right start easy work up.

First plan get drive clear and sort out work travel and get charger on etc. It's not going anywhere til I know it's ok. Not risking it

Charged up while I sorted camper (back up)

Fired up all good. Water tank empty so filled her up turned on fans waited for it to warm up.

Bit of whispy white out the exhaust and bottles bubbling away getting air out. Put top on and gauge starting to move 1/3 maybe. I swear felt warmer air out heater. Mmmm

Expansion cap off for a bit more and there's pressure. Waters cold so not too bad. Let it sit and swapped over parking on drive.

Sitting there ticking over getting regular bubbles out the expansion tank followed by puff's of smoke not steam as waters cold to touch. And in the light can see a faint oily rainbow on the too of the water as it rises.

Bollox.

Least I know what next job is.

After realising my leak off tester kit has been vultured and half of it missing I've ordered a new one.
Just been rummaging for my block tester and found it. With empty bottle of fluid.
Back to the order basket then
