well seems alot of then had bad ID's as in stolen possible. Illegally imported. No different than any other country on Bans of Illegal goods
May have is a big wordIf you read the story, the authority's may have fecked up,some vehicles have been returned to the American owners, plus a lawyer and land rover enthusiast, has taken the cases to court. The authority's have allegedly misunderstood the rules etc.
yes a few very few got returned
May have is a big word
yes a few very few got returned, there were 180 vehicles seized and according to the story 6 have been returned.
long add on there, after i replied. yes 6,up to now.Seeing as the authority's have cocked up,and there is a lawyer fighting the case, pro bono,i think he has a very strong case.
Little known fact: "May have" is such a big word that it's actually two words.May have is a big word
yes a few very few got returned, there were 180 vehicles seized and according to the story 6 have been returned.
For his friends in his defender club. Links were mentioned back to theft rings in UK. Go back to july of last year and read what they were saying. Dippy started the thread I followed it for a few weeks on the Land Rover site.
Most won't get them back as there were several with late 1990 diesels engines and some even had TD5 engines, transmissions and other TD5 parts
Not all 180 seized defenders. He is helping a select fewHe has gotten 6 back up to now,he is taking the rest through due process to show that they have made serious errors in taking them,I have never said all of them, but the ones that have the correct credentials to be in the USA.Typical law enforcement in the US,do as your told, ask questions later,by which time, for some of them,it will be too late.
Not all 180 seized defenders. He is helping a select few
none have been crushed. all in a secured lot. You see the bit they are working with UK law to see which have been stolen? and checking numbers.
This story is like most for a reaction. If you had followed from last July there was some rather detailed details of who (Customs) are working with to get this solved. And just maybe get a connection in UK with all the stolen defenders problem. Maybe just maybe they will be able to get a few crooks
lots of maybe's,i prefer facts.Let us wait and see what FACTS are revealed, not just hearsay,or maybe's.If you look yourself, the US authority's have been getting the info from the wrong source, that is why the lawyer is getting, some!,back.
If you take much from that story as fact other than lawyers name and they got back 6 defenders, that is about all the fact there is. rather lop sided by they reporter.
Go search and you will see. I went back and 1900 posts and not much has been resolved. Will got a pat on the shoulder from a few. rest want to know when they will get there back. Biggest problem with them 180 vehicles is major Vin/Id's that have been messed about. and the number of td5's and 300tdi tagged as being 25 years old and with a gas mator. plus lots of new eingines, transmission on some of the older ones. Seems to be a Ebay defender assembly line and then shipped to us. plus there was some MOT failures sent over
