put mine on the test book or what ever its called the other day and the only fault codes where in the hevac system, everything else was fine. pleasently suprised.............
there was about 20 codes for the hevac, had them all cleared and will take it back if i get a further book symbol.
if i put the flow of air to the floor it dont stop coming out the windscreen vents! no book symbol though, i can run through all the funtions and the book dont apear! but not much air down!
book does come on when starting from cold on a cool/cold day when engine gets to temp, dont do it if its a warm day! and once its on remove key and restart and its then fine till next day if its cool/cold!

any ideas! its been like it for ages but as its been summer i never see it! (warm days)

Sounds like blend motors faulty to me.
well thats what i would have thought but i cant help thinking i should get the book up in the display when i play with buttons? dont think theres a linkages to fall off! (its not a cortina i spose)

Lots of blend motor sets get changed for this, and it still does not work.
The truth is that the distribution flap is too stiff in the heater box for the blend motor to move it.The code logged is usually "Distribution flap stalled during self tune" - ie,every time the Hevac ECU boots up.
The trick is to drive a nice big fat self tapping screw into the centre joint of the heater box inline with the dist flap itself. It works - every time.
Or you could strip the whole dash out and try to strip and trim the flap or replace the whole thing.

this sounds like a touch of genius to me, any ideas why i only get the book symbol when coolant gets up to normal temp, AND it DONT happen on a warm day?
i would guess the flap would be stuck no matter the weather!,
although i hope it is that..............

Think you are going to have to stick it back on Testbook and see what is upseting it,like alot of other systems you will probably get a better idea from the live data displays than fault codes.
Normally the box expands when it gets hot and the flaps move better, tho you can never say never with a Range Rover.:D

yeah i supose your all right, been trying to work it out for ages and getting no where realy, test book is the thing to do, just its another £40 quid! the joys of r/r ownership! worth it though i supose.............
