Fairey overdrive link rod solution

my dads 110 v8 is fitted with the fairey overdrive system, and recently the link rod within it broke at one end.He ended having to buy a complete new gearbox in order to replace it. Does anyone know of another solution for future if this one goes?

might of been able to get a new one ? but this any good to you ??

Dont have any first hand knowledge but from that diagram it should have been cheap and easy to make one or weld the old one. Especially as you already had the old bits to work from. There dont seem a lot to go wrong with the link rod.
