I've got a 1989 CSW V8. Still running a Rover V8, albeit not the original 3.5 carbed one that expired many years ago (now a 3.9 efi). When I eventually replace the chassis, I think I might add a bit more power too.

However, I've always felt that as a factory built V8, I should keep a Rover V8 in it, not an LS. I've also felt I should keep an LT85 box in it.

What do you guys think? Does nobody care whether it's an LS or RV8 - or as a factory V8, should I "keep the faith" and stay with Rover V8?

What do you want at the end of the day?
Going LS would mean a whole lot more of other changes.
Is it still original if you do that?
Personally, I would stick with the RV8, going any bigger than the 3.9 brings in a lot of electrickery as well. (I fink). AndI have no idea how much the LT85 will handle, probably not an LS;)

I would have thought the 3.9 is plenty for it to handle.

How deep are your pockets?

Dont get me wrong I am not against the LS, I have a stroked SBC range rover.
BUT;)

As time goes by and models get older it's the ones that are most original that are retaining a higher value and interest to byers. Same for most types of vehicles.

Thanks. Yeah, I think staying Rover V8 and LT85 is generally what I'm keen to do because that's the heart of the vehicle- although when the time comes, a nice 4.6 isn't cheap any more.
I doubt I'd ever go back to an SU carbed 3.5 though. :)
