They are the ones which the government are considering making illegal. There
are currently no detectors which are illegal to use.

To the best of my knowledge, no radar detectors are currently illegal.

If you believe the tabloid hype, the govt wants to make the detectors
(though not the GPS ones) illegal...probably as it's costing them revenue!!

Whether they do or not is another matter!

Regardless, legislation is probably some time off....and it didn't stop the
huge black market for these things when they were illegal to use some years
ago!

Additionally, these things only have to save you once to virtually pay for
themselves!

In fact, the auction is at £52 currently....which means it will pay for
itself a few times over even if it does only save you the one time!

Generally speaking..Yes

A couple of things though..speed cameras are just revenue
generators..nothing more.

Everybody speeds! Show me a driver who says he *never* speeds and I'll show
you a liar!

Because they are just revenue generators, local Police authorities feel
completely justified hiding the bloody things, having mobile ones in
roadworks without the necessary signs warning you of the temporary speed
limits etc...the list goes on.

If speed cameras were *really* designed to minimise accidents and slow the
traffic, there would be huge signs warning you that you were approaching
one and the whole thing would be fluorescent yellow..not just the top..and
*none* of them would be obscured!!

Strange as it may seem I absolutely agree with you. They should remove the
lot and try to be less cynical in their approach to road enforcement.
Camera's for the right job yes but as revenue generators absolutely not. I
wonder how keen they would be if all the revenue were to be used to sort out
our crap transport system. Without a reduction of the current input.
