Hello this is from an mot of a 110 2001 defender 173000 miles asking 10995 for it
Can I pick your brains please as in do I not buy this as it will be expensive to sort (I’m not mechanically minded) or is it worth it, the cost of the car with and without whatever you believe it would cost to sort, they are advisories but there’s a whole year to go to the next mot
Thank you
Repair as soon as possible (minor defects):
  • Nearside Front Brake pipe clips or supports missing, pipe adequately supported (1.1.11 (d) (i))
  • Steering box has seepage (2.1.1 (e) (i))
Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):
  • Brake pedal wearing smooth (1.1.2 (c))
  • Spare tyre defective flat? ()
  • Nearside Front Brake pipe clips or supports missing, pipe adequately supported (1.1.11 (d) (i))
  • Upper stop lamp ? inoperative
  • Steering box has seepage (2.1.1 (e) (i))
  • steering damper, offside bush worn.
  • Offside Rear Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material (1.1.11 (c))
  • Offside Rear suspension bump stop missing
  • Oil leak, but not excessive (8.4.1 (a) (i))
  • Rear Suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive (5.3.6 (a) (i))
  • Nearside Rear Tyre slightly damaged/cracking or perishing slight flat spot in tread (5.2.3 (d) (ii))

Yeah rust is the biggest issue. A thing else can be sorted with 4 spanners and a hammer. Bulkhead and chassis.

Ten grand for a 18 year old truck?
If you are not mechanically minded is it wise to buy a 18 year old Land Rover?
They need constant maintenance, most have been neglected, they rot for fun and if you cannot do the work yourself it will cost you a fortune.

This line should make you be very carful it’s the beginning of the rot. There are more areas (as mentioned)

You have already said (if I remember) that you don’t know 1 end of a spanner from another, please don’t take that wrong.

You need to keep looking I don’t think that 1 is for you:(
Be patient the right 1 will come along.

J
