Hi all, Newbie here from Manchester Uk!

We have a 2013 Evoque SD4 Dynamic..

Problem !!!
When it is at full temp and it has been sat idling , like in traffic or stationary with the engine running and in D “Drive”... as you let the brake off it bangs into drive, feels like we have had a shunt in the backend...
If we put it in Park at lights etc then back to D on the Green traffic light it is smooth again, but if left in D it will go with big heavy jerk...
It’s fine when cold, fine when it is left in park.. only does it at full temp whilst sat idling.
When I let the brake off even it I do it really slow, it’s like when the brake taillights go off it is an instant bang into gear if that make sense !

can anyone give any advise as to what could be wrong?
I’ve done a transmission reset as in the manual but still the same. no lights on the dash.

Thanks Billy

How many miles on it? When was the transmission fluid last changed (if ever)?
To give these complex vehicles the best chance of remaining reliable, all the drive train fluids need changing every 60k miles, regardless of what BS the service manual says.

It’s on 58k now, we bought it on 52k last year and it started doing it a cpl of months after so prob about 53/54k

It's about due for a full fluids change then. However the rough gear selection could have generated a code, so it is worth getting the codes read, just in case there's a more issue with the gearbox.

It is due a Haldex and Gearbox service..

More than likely gearbox related, gearbox issues on the Evoque are known especially the first gen with the Aisin box.

Try a service and have the adaptions reset if possible

The gearbox itself feels great, all changes are smooth etc , no funny noises etc.. just that as stated above..

I had the car serviced a cpl of months ago and asked them to do a gearbox software update, they said it doesn’t need one.
They did say they’re was a brake switch fault code and reset it.. but no lights have come on.

I’ll ask the garage to look more into it.. I’m going to a place called Land Ranger in Stockport , which I’ve been told are great.... so fingers crossed they will be able to sort it.

Faulty brake light switch is common across many makes of cars, change it and see.
Most are two switches in one, and most people think brake lights work so switch is okay, but it may not be the case.
