Hi there,

Just bought my first range rover, a 4.0 SE and so far enjoying very much!

However unfortunatly I don't have the user manual so I need to source one, in the mean time though could anyone please tell me the sequence for entering the radio code, I have the number but there must be a special way of doing it. when I turn the radio on there are 4 dashes on the screen

Any help would be much appreciated

Oh and also what is the little button nest to the height adjustment that looks like a flat tyre?

Many thanks

Alastair

right just been out to mine found the handbook... ( Freelander )
im guessing there all the same .il will type it as it reads in the book.

switch the radio on ( CODE appears in the display) press pre set button 1

press one of the manueal tuning buttons < > to select the first digit of the code. press preset 1 to store the first digit in the memory

use eather tuing buttton to select the second digitof the code , press pre set button 1 to store the second digit

so on and so forth

if the correct has been sellected a two tone bleep will sound and the radio will come on..

hope this works for you

mick:)

Thanks Mick

Will have a go at that later, be honest I can't remember what make it is, I think it is unmarked actually

Will let you know how I get on

HI

i had big problems getting the code into mine

once the 4 dashes appear i think it means it locked throught too many incorrect entries.

Mine was a blaupunk (excuse spelling) - when it says code u should just enter it using the numbered buttons & it will accept -

let me know if u get stuck ill look up the model on mine

if u go to a landy dealer with ID & the log book they can tell u the original code from the serial number (if it hasn't been changed by owner)

thanks Pockers,

thats bad news! have code from dealership but it just won't take any the code all that comes up is the dashes! so what you say is probably right. I take it there are people who can overcome this?

What a pain

thanks anyway

Al

Most common issues fixed:

Radio will not take it’s factory code, no matter what you try
Buzzing sound/static and humm
Intermittent on/off, has a mind of it’s own
Radio looks and seems to be fine, but there is no sound at all
Bad LCD, foggy or just a bright green glow, can’t see any digits or just barely
Dim digits on LCD all over or one side
No Pack (no problem, this simply means you do not have a cassette in the cassette player)
Cassette does not work
Codac ERR on LCD (CD changer needs repair)
Only few of your speakers are working

Hi ..
I Had The Similar Problem With My Rr 96 Hse . I Found The Secret : All You Have To Do Is To Put The Car Key In The Ignition Place And Turn It Till The First Click , You Turn On The Radio .. And You Must Keep The Car In This Situation Till 8 Hours Approximate Without Using It , Then The Radio Lcd Show You " Code In " You Enter The Code You Have , Then You Press The Up Button Of The Tuner Adjustment .. And Here It Is
Be Careful : Try 2 Times This Operation , If It Doesn't Work , Maybe There's Other Problem With You , Or The Code Is Incorrect .
Good Luck .
Chabrolly .

HI

leaving the ignition on the first click will clear the 4 dashes & leave u with "code" after several hours & then you have 3 chances to put right one in. when i did this it flattened my battery so i ended up putting a trickle charger on the battery to keep it topped up)

If the code u have is wrong then it needs someone to open it up, put a reader on the micro chip via a laptop to read the code & reset it if you wish.

I spoke to about 20 stereo shops & got quotes of £70 upto £200!!!! & taking anything up to 2 weeks. In the end went through yellow pages to a mobile guy who fixes stereos, he came round next day, took the cover off the radio, read the chip, got me the code, & charged me £20!!!! not bad

He's based in surrey let me know if thats near you & ill forward his details. If not hit the yellow pages asking if they decode steroes.

Good luck
