Has anyone ever done an engine transplant on a petrol Freelander i.e put a Zetec, Vauxhall or even a good old Rover 820 motor into one ?? Or is this an old question raising it's head again ?? Love the freelander it's just a tad gutless, i can't believe it wasn't built with a 2.0 to start with.

yes it is - covered lots - suggest yu :search:

good link to an aussie site was posted a day or so ago.

um ,,the clip in my opinion is a bit missleading ,,,watching some pimp in his pimp car with road tyres slipping about ...and it isnt stuck just spining and moveing slowly ....i would love to see a arselander on its rims trying it ...

Aye but least the range rover had all 4 wheels on the ground.... the freelander had diagonally oppostie wheels off the gound, leaving only 2 with traction.

And judging by the noise on the RR clip, driver wasnt revving too much and even if he was, all the electronic gizmos would of curbed the power to get traction down.

Personally, think it was a **** poor driver in the RR rather than the RR been crap

Those boyo's from Wales even make the Irish look smart...........idiots!

for starters he's feathering the throttle on the clutch, I'd say his tyres were already scrubbed to hell and a FL1 comm has next to no weight in the arse end of it.

4th link down is just embarrassment, note the rad fans coming on his (or should I say her) 2nd attempt.

I know today I'll drive the FL1 into a marsh.

Even more embarrassing is the 5th link down with a disco stuck.

They drive like women, they'd better get back to the beauty salon before they break a nail.

If the Freelander had of had traction control, it would have gone forward ok.

I don't think the RR traction control would switch in and help as all 4 wheels were turning at roughly the same low speed.

like I said, the tyres would have been scrubbed to hell,

Going by the link below.....tyres were long gone before her and her chav mates got off road, who wears a 69 T-shirt to go orfe roading? Says it all really

edit - linky not working, if you type into youtube 'Landrover freelander doing a wheelspin'

As for the RR, same situation, low profile semi slicks............useless orfe road

:focus: Sorry for being a technophobe guys but i tried the search and just found info about other k series swaps of which i did when i purchased this one, as it had motor more lunched than a chinese banquet when i got it so fitted one from a 52 plate MG ZS the four door thingy ?? It's only been in a 2k miles with a new water pump fitted upon install and signs of the head gasket mod and a full servive including belts too boot, and lo and behold it's emptying the expansion tank every two days though i can't find any obvious leaks or emulsification etc. I'm going to pressure test it when i get a mo but i'm inclined to try a different type of engine if anyone has any tips they would be mucho appreciated as i'm letting my Navara go soon so this will be our main tow vehicle GULP !!!
