Engine Swap for '68 Scout

I have a 1968 HI Scout with an engine that needs to be rebuilt or swap
in some other engine. Anyone here done an engine swap on a Scout?

Did an engine swap on a '73 Scout. We pulled the tired 304 and
swapped in a Chevy 350. I can't remember exactly what type of trans
was in the scout but it was a manual, 4sp I think. IIRC, we used an
adapter (new bellhousing) from Advanced Adapters with a high profile
Centerforce clutch. If I had to do it over again, I would have
replaced the trans and transfer case to a chevrolet unit and just
fabbed some mounts. Can't beat Chevy parts availibilty (at least in
the US)!

When the 152 went out in my '68, I found a 196 from a '70 for a fairly
painless swap. I'd love to put something with more power in there,
but I need to find some Dana 44's to put under it first.
