hi guys. ive a 96 discovery and im planning to do an engine service today. apart from usual stuff like oil, oil & fuel filter, air filter is there anything else i should be looking at. it has sat up for about 18 months.
i want to flush the coolant as well. some boys are saying to use dishwasher liquid and then flush as the water is a real mud colour. whats the best way to flush the engine? do i need to take the thermostat out? do i do it when the engine is warm or cold? what pipes should i disconnect?
this is my first landy so wana do it rite.

thanx in advance

Does it need a flush with chemicals are u having cooling problems or just the rusty water requires replacing, if so drain refill run the engine let cool drain refill etc a few times and with the last refill add your antifreeze. To drain undo the bottom hose at the rad if u can and if want a job take the rad out and flush it out upside down and reverse flow some say that can be helpfull in removing sludge.. never done it myself.
Also have a look into the battery, if it's not the sealed maintenance free type, and top-up with distilled water if required.
