Telling us what engine you have might be a good start but I'll put my money on head gasket failure or blocked rad.

+1

But I believe its a td4.

What colour is the coolant.
When was the last time it was changed.
Can you see movement of water through the expansion chamber.
The fans don't activate until the engine is really hot on td4's.
Even after pulling my caravan from Rotherham to Anglesey the fans never kicked in!

Please give us more info.

And when you've stopped panicking  take a minute and go to the community forum and introduce yourself.

Cheers

Hi guys,

I have a 1.8K series, 40,000 miles on her, changed the Hg and timing belt as a precaution when I bought it, just wondering if there is a way to manually swith the cooling fan on, it boiled over on a hot day sitting in traffic for 45-60 minutes bit of steam from the expansion tank, needle still at half way, the fan has never kicked in in the time I've had it. I have replaced the fan relay and temp sensors also off a freelander im breaking on which the fan worked. Still no joy. If your only advice is that these engines are **** then poke it up your arse :brick: its just a cheep wee runabout.

Cheers
