Hi, I've just bought my first Land Rover - It's a 1989 19J (a 90 with the 2.5 turbo diesel engine) and I want to do an oil and filter change. I have searched for hours and come up with dozens of different suggestions for which oil to use. I live in the UK and will use it in all conditions. Can I just go to Motor World and get the carlube 15w40 turbo diesel oil?

Thank you in advance.

The best way forward for that engine when doing an oil change is either a 10w40 or 15w40 mineral oil. As mineral is a much more suited oil for an older engine. However you need to change the engine oil every 5000 miles when using mineral oil. Semi-synthetic can be used and will last for longer drain periods but changing every 5000 miles using mineral oil will keep your engine in tip top condition.
