Engine Fault light flicker

My 2.5DSE RR goes well, but just lately it has been cutting out whilst driving but restarting itself, and my engine management light flickers. Took to a landy repair guy in east london and he told me there was a glitch in my distributo, but i'm sure a diesel donedn't have one, so can anyone put me straight on this one before i take it back to him. Also anyone any ideas as to what may be wrong

your quite right the diesels dont have a distributor, niether do the petrols for that matter , unless he was trying to say the distributor pump but never heard it termed that way before.
