Hi all, my p38 2.5 2001 RR.

I had my gearbox oil and filters changed and all ok now, however, I charged the battery in the car overnight, the next day, my neighbour said they thought they heard a bang near the car.

The battery charger appeared to be ok but I suspect I have the wrong battery fitted on the car.

My problem now is the alarm was going off which I have been able to stop but the message board says engine disabled ?

I dont have a keyfob and even if I had the key code I couldn't use it as I changed the door lock recently not able to lock the car, which is not a major concern for me.

Question is, how do I get round the engine disabled to start the car. Its car passed its mot and reluctant to get rid off it.

Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated, I'm a novice really.

Tony

Didn't you get a key that fits the new lock? you'll need it to enter the EKA code once you get it from the Main Stealers. Other than that go nick an easier car.;):D

If you can open the door take off door card disconnect plug and you can enter EKA with a jumper wire . Think theres a how to by @maryuk in technical archive or use search bar. Its on the forum somewhere. Hopefully some one will be along with it

If the original becm and bits are in there and it’s just the door lock you changed may be able to order a no3 or 4 original key (new) for the ignition.

I don’t think a Nanocom will work if you are already locked out.

It thought it was being stolen. Key in ignition message is main engine immobiliser active : it won’t run until it’s matched that code just crank for eternity and blinky light does it’s thing.

If you have the owners manual look in there for the original little card with 4 digit EKA code on it. Looks like a business card - you need that code even if you get a key,

It’s when not if
and the when is now ;)

Not wishing to resurrect an old arguement but after a long conversation with the late Wammers,he explained,to the best of his memory how he managed to start a locked out car with his Nanocom. He wouldn't disclosure the method on an open forum. He told me because he knew that I wouldn't either.;)

Wammers started the car without the EKA by disabling the alarm and the need for it. This was the bone of contention with a member on here who said that it couldn't be done,Tony told him to think about it and what could make it possible. When he told me it seemed logical.;)

You'd better tell me how to do it before you pop your clogs. And Brian. I only grt the pain down my left arm and breathlessness when exerting myself, like getting out of bed.

I turned off the security on another guys RR with my nanocom.
Seemed to work OK for him. IIRC I just entered his EKA with the nanocom and then turned off the security features.
He was happy as Larry.

Someone would probably pay a good price for wammers' nanocom, cos no-one else has ever been able to replicate that and the manufacturers say it cant be done. Anyway, EKA is not so hard to get hold of if you own the car legally, so it's a pointless discussion.
I'm sure it wd give Wammers a good chuckle to see this urban myth resurface
