Disco 1 Engine Cutout

Hi, can anyone advise on the below problem with a 93 200TDI please?

Engine starts fine and runs well until the headlights are turned on, then cuts out. Runs ok with side lights, but as soon as headlights are turned on, the engine cuts out.

have you tried turning any other high draw items like rear heated screen and full fan? to see if it is a voltage drop that's causing it?

I would leave the lights off and turn on full blower and rear heated screen and wipers and see if that makes it cut out

Drop the drive belt off the alternator and try it again.
That'll eliminate that from the proceedings.
