what's the big number on my block guys?
I presume the tag has useful serial numbers etc?


and what's the tap for?

The number looks as though it is the cast batch number, and the tap is to drain the block.

yes its the only way you can drain block ,important to drain before doing head gasket,later models including tdi use a plug in the same place

I just had rad out and did a complete flush...should I have taken this bad boy out too??

Before you try opening the tap, make sure that the hole is not full of crud, and give it a good going over with penetrating oil as you don't really want to shear it off!
