My new vdo pump has arrived and as I need to keep the tank half full to keep driving I've thinking about how to empty it for removal. Is there an anti syphon arrangement in the filler system anywhere? I've got a 12v fuel pump that I'll probably have to step down the 3/4" hose on it.

Ask VOSA the always manage to dip a tank when after red diesel :D

I've got some 10mm nylon airline!
I remember seeing a flappy valve thing when I removed the tank to do the brake pipes 3? Years ago, just where it joins the rubber hose to the tank.

There is a flap at the bottom of the filler tube but to me it's more to stop fuel surge up the pipe when driving than to stop siphoning.

Not sure about the diesel but when I did my GEMS tank, I just added a length or pipe to the fuel feed in the engine bay, and bridged the pump relay to pump the tank out. But if the in-tank pump has failed that's not gonna work !!

Otherwise maybe a pump with good initial suction on the fumes will start the fuel going ?

I've got a self priming pump as long as I can get a hose down the filler neck. Think I'll root about in me bits and bobs, see if I can reduce the 3/4 down to 10mm.

If it was me I would cut the access door, all the info is in the technical archive, should have been done from the factory IMO, easy enough to make the piece cut out a bit bigger and, make a rubber gasket and secure with self tappers.

I agree that there should have been an access flap but I can't bring myself to cut the floor. It's all been off before and replaced with new bolts and clips so not expecting it to take an age to drop out.
But I hear ya!
