Hi All,

Searched for ages to try to find other problems like this but no joy.

I have, for my sins, a '99 p38 4.0 V8. Yesterday I replaced the throttle heater base plate gasket/throttle body inlet & return hoses. Pain in the arse - very fiddly - but I managed to succeed which I was pleased about. Then went to start the thing to run it and got the 'Engine Disabled' message bleep up. Tried the EKA code to no avail.
This morning spoke to Mozz Smith, who was fantastic and gave me a surefire way of getting the thing started at least.
Every time I leave it for longer than a few minutes without starting it now it reverts back to 'Engine Disabled'. I repeat the proceedure given by Mozz and it fires up. The fob doesn't work the central locking and hasn't since last night.
Along with the 'Engine Disabled' message I now have 'fuse 12, 13, 14, 15 fail' messages. Tried all the fuses it tells me about - they're all fine.
I looked at the relevant fuses and what they do etc and tried their functions - e.g. fuse 12 is for the heated rear screen and LH rear window and went through all those and found none of the relevant functions work. Just sat in the car a few mins ago I heard a buzzing/clicking noise from under the seat when I tried things like the LH rear window and sunroof buttons. The becm??
So my question is if anyone can advise me on possible causes/remedies etc. Could this be a relay or a problem with the becm???
Yesterday whilst doing my chores I had to fiddle around with the expansion tank and moved the engine bay fuse box and there was a brief spark. After I changed my pants I checked all connections/relays etc and couldn't find anything glaringly obvious. Anybody think this has anything to do with it/coincidence???
Before I decided to...ahem...IMPROVE the thing, everything was working fine, e.g. no probs with fob or starting or anything like that.
I love the thing, I really do, so I don't want to use the petrol bomb I made in anger earlier.
Apologies for the long-winded post but I just wanted to be as accurate as possible.

Please give generously; any help could save the life of a P38.

Thanks

I would think that spark from the fuse box
has done some damage. I would have thought the best
bet would to get hooked up to a diagnostic device.

Definitely sounds like the fuse box. They can be repaired but it can be a pain in ass. Rangerover.net has a good write up on the procedure. Mind you I seem to recall that a new fuse box is only about £120 which may well be worth it compared to a rebuild.
Either way if you suspect the main +ve feed to the box is loose get it repaired pronto. When mine failed it did so at 4am on a country road and left me with no lights, engine, ABS etc. I left skid marks on more than just the road.

Yeah, I suppose I must've fooked something when I caught the fusebox. It's going into the garage first thing tomorrow anyway so I'll get them to check the fusebox.
Thanks for your replies.
