Electrical Problem,

Disco 2000 ES, electric seats and front windows stopped working.

Blew Fuse link 5 (50 amp) in fuse box in engine, all the other fuses after this in the circuit are ok and have not blown.

Resistance test of wire (Brown and purple (NP)) showns a fault direct to earth, but not sure of the cables root.

A brown and purple (NP) wire appears at the passenger fuse box, and at both electric seats (LH and RH) relays which are under the seats and the NP cable from the engine fuse box.

I have also disconnected the passenger fuse box completely, and I am still getting a fault to earth at the NP wire at the engine fuse box end aswell as as it appears under both seats.

Does antone know, is this one cable, is there a splitter joint somewhere I can split to test both ways ? ?

Any other ideas would be very helpful.

really struggling

From FL5 the feed is going through the fusebox's internals to C0576 pins 4 and 5 from there on NP wire to C0751 pin 5 and from there to C0975 pin 30 ... the best is to lift off the fusebox and unplug C0576 then C0975 under the seat and take it by pieces... see pics

Thank You !

Thank You !

Thank You !

You cannot imagine just how much of the car is laying on the bench trying to find this fault.

Found it ! ! !

Your explaination made it easy to find. The small loop between C0751 pin 5 and C0975 pin 30 had become unclipped from under the seat and had been caught up in the screw threads of the seat, thus cut and shortened out.

If you had not of said I would never of found C0751 as it is well hidden, understanding the layout made it a simply job.

Oh well, at least I was right, I knew it wasn't the back axle so I am now off to put it back on.

:lalala:

Thanks again.
