Hello, I bought my first Landrover a few weeks ago and have had bits to do on the doors etc., it’s a 1994 Defender 110.

However electrical problems have hit me. First most of the dash lights and the horn. Then today the indicators, brake lights and sidelights, and only the headlights are working. I don’t have the faintest clue where to start troubleshooting apart from looking at the fuse box where the fuses look fine.

The only thing I can think of is that I wired rear parking sensors to the reverse light for my wife, but why would that knock out everything else?

Would appreciate any ideas about where to start with this.

First thing with anything electrical is that it’s an earth problem.
Or something you have disturbed.
What did you get into to fit the reverse sensor?
Do you have a Multimeter?
You have obviously got power for said sensor system and been in amongst the back wiring, possibly behind the dash. Loads of possible places to disturb a connector
Does you new instal still work and did this all happen at once?
Your problems may not be related so you need to look at them 1 by 1, Fuses can look and be fine, but is there actually voltage?

Do you have a wiring diagram, if not search web and you will find:).

Oh welcome:).

Thanks.

I fitted the sensor to the reversing light connection at the rear directly, so didn’t disturb the dash. Oddly enough this is still working fine which makes me think this might be a separate problem.

I will look into finding the earth and see if there’s a problem there next. That’s for daylight though.

Have you tried removing fuses to check them the plating on them tends to powder and form a high resistance between the contact parts over time, bad earths as mentioned and loose or corroded battery terminals
