With Head Gasket problems being common on the 1.8 "K" series & V6 engines - What are your thoughts on fitting an electric water pump such as ...

Would this help the localised overheating, or do you think it is money wasted?
Do any of you have one fitted and what are your experiences?

never heard of one being fitted ,but it seems ta make sence,got ta be worth a try. . .

LR have done this to 2006 1.8's, there's a small pump near the coolant bottle

then. on the maw web site it says remove thermostat - I can see this being a prob on the V6 (wot isnt

If ya wanna be really clever floppy, yer could take out yer thermostat and fit an electrical thermo coupler [thermostat] and set it slightly below the set point of the original [save on the v6 hot spots] but then again what do i know. . .

yer Ming - (RS561-460) but, font of all knowledge, how do I remove thermostat on V6 freebie - its all moulded wiv lotsa plastic pipes

- bloody V6!

i would imagine its controlled by the ecu so therefore the ecu will be different (it would be anyway as yours is a V6), you could always wire it to a switch on the dash or use a turbo timer to switch the pump and the fans on for say 3 mins after switching the engine off

If its a retro fit might be woprth considering.
You say they fitted one to the 2006 1.8's Clutch.
Any ideas on costs?

its not a retrofit, they've modified the wiring harness and i would imagine the ecu too, it's now standard on all 1.8's

RS - p/n 561-460 is a variable Thermostat & sensor - operates between 0-120C
