hi
my freelander 02 1800 petrol has a little problem ,the central locking ,boot or interior light dont want to work unless the key is in the ignition and on ,

does anybody have any ideas to a fix ,its doin me head in now :D

thanks for the reply pal

will have a look at the bcu ,the car has been stood for 2 years an not run so thought it might have been a relay ,never so simple

Stood for 2 years......has the battery been flat?
Try changing the battery in the keyfob and then pair it with the car......a long shot but you never know.

hi battery was flat had to buy a new one ,still no joy interier light, boot wont open unless i put key in ignition ,also keyfobs dont key in .

doin me head in now think it might be time to sink it

How are your fuses? Long shot as central locking and interior lights are on seperate circuits but worth a look. if it's been stood and an earth has corroded you could be shorting out somewhere perhaps...

Try re-synching the key fobs, all info out there.

Here's an easy place to start TOPIx - TOPIx

If you sit in a Freelander 1 and lock the doors + alarm the vehicle wiv the remote, then put the key in the ignition and turn it, the doors will all fa, shorry open. Tis a fact. Putting the key in is another logic avenue to get the locks etc working. That proves the locks etc operate.

Are you having problems opening the vehicle when the doors are locked, whilst using the key or remote or both?

hi thanks for the replys

they all worked before it was stood for ages ,the fobs dont do anything at all i have to lock it by pressing the latch down and open it with key, also the boot is inoperable until i turn ignition on, interior light does not come on unless i flick switch on roof
