Why my car is off the road I decided to do some other maintenance. I took off the EGR valve and have never seen anything a crapped up in my life! I am in the process of giving it a good clean. My question is could this have any effect on the starting of the vehicle? Probably not but I am exploring every avenue here!
When I am starting it with easy start I am putting it in the hose that leads to the EGR so???

When I am starting it with easy start I am putting it in the hose that leads to the EGR so???

it wont have any affect on starting but will cause poor performance if its not working properly

you shouldn't use easy start, if you have to then you have a problem, answer to your question though.....no it wount get into the vacuum pipe
 
Hi Mate

I had a Toyota Estima and those and the Pajero things are well known for EGR valve problems. My symptoms were rough running at low revs. The car would "hunt" or lurch at light throttle openings. It was also very thirsty on diesel. But the biggest give away was the smoke screen when you put your foot down!:eek:

On the toyota engine the EGR valve was vacuum operated and you could eliminate it by just plugging the tube. Some people used to put a ball bearing in the tube and then refit it so it looked as normal. On mine I just pulled the tube off and plugged it with a bolt. The deifference was very noticable in terms of smooth running better on fuel and no smoke screen.

But at no point did it have any affect on starting.
