EGR removal question

Evening all- my first post so go easy!

Today's been a battle with two bearing changes and then I decided to install the EGR removal kit I had purchased.

It was getting dark, I was tired (not ideal I know) and in an episode of hast I have rounded off one of the small bolts that fixes the EGR pipe to the exhaust manifold. I decided to stop.

To cure the problem can I just leave that element of the EGR attached and install the blanking plate between the pipe from the exhaust manifold and the condenser unit??

hi, soak it well with some degrippant and attack it with mole grips... you can leave the old valve there though just disconnect the vacuum pipe and clog it well with a rivet or something as to not loose vacuum there.

Yes, That was the way my one was done when I got it. Only removed the whole lot recently when changing the exhaust manifold.

Obviously better if you can blank it at the manifold though so there's no exhaust going down a dead end pipe

Plenty of "plus gas" or similar then after its had a good soaking for a few days get some proper heat on the bolt. A domestic blow torch wont get it hot enough. It should come out with mole grips if you can get the bolt red hot with acetylene. Try not to melt anything else though.
