ebay suspect fraud?

How long does it take before you can suspect an ebayer of fraud?

Bought sommat quite dear, payed immediately by paypal with a visa (hoping for double protection, as had a "funny" feeling).

No reply to friendly email saying send it registered or at least get a proof of posting.

Now a week later, no item and no contact. Wrote again asking if it had been sent and no reply.

It's just that he'd said in the listing that he'd sent it immediately on payment - and well he hasn't..

So how long should I wait before askin paypal for me money back, or asking visa? another week?

This sort of thing happening more and more now...
 
go through ebay, but he may be waiting for payment to show on his account, pay pal does take 3-4 days to appear in the account of the seller, but he should still respond to your mails tho
 
he mighta gone on oliday... some folk are useless at that. they put up listings and then bugger off for 2 weeks without thinking about it! i would contact ebay though. go through the dispute console. they may have other people who have had the same thing thing with him. ebay will hopefully sort it out for you.

you need to wait 10 days before ebay will do anything then they will tell you to ask for the sellers details so that YOU can phone them or go round wiff a big stick.
if after that you still hav eno joy paypal will contact them , if they don't respond to paypal you will gert yer money back.

what's his feedback rating like ?

i'm very suspect of people who have about 10 - 20 feedbacks, you often find that they have brought very cheap items, maybe even from other fraudsters as a way of building up their own feedback, and then they seel an expensive item that never arrives

also, if you sell anything ALLWAYS send it by recorded delivery so someone has to sign for it, i've had an increasing number of people who have claimed the item hasnt arrived, if it's not sent recorded i have no way to prove it

you can ask from proof of postage... which is free. i put this in the bottom of my listing "proof of postage can always be supplied". that covers your arse. ive got 257 feedback and i aint had one of those people yet... touch wood.

its good to look at what other people have been buying and selling, its actually quite funny what people buy/sell on there.

Pull his details from ebay, you can do this yourself and call him. If the phone number does not work then this could be a very good reason to suspect that your seller is a fraud.

Just for your info guys.

To save trawling through pages of feedback to find out if they are dodgy there is a tool which only displays neutral or negative feedback for an ebayer and it's free and available on the net @ Negative/Neutral Feedback or as a firefox add-on.

I use it a lot and it's obviously really good if it's a large volume seller.
