Hi,

Maybe a possible drive shaft removal for economical reason. The left rear driveshaft gaiter is no more, need to be changed. It’s not a genuine one.

I was just looking under the car to see how bad it is, when I see a police car stopping next to me.

The car stay parked, but it is safe to drive about 5 miles to reach the garage ?

Has it been broken for more than 5 miles?

Probably.

I'd be driving it, not very quickly, the 5 miles - but its you're call.

Nice and clean under there. Looks in good nick other than the gaiter.

Don’t know for how long it was like that, not more than one week.

There is still a lot of grease inside, and the drive shaft doesn’t seem to have play.

The car certainly want a lot of gifts for it 20 years. Give it a new gaiter, and pray it will stop asking ;)

It'll be fine. Just make sure the place doing the repair work cleans the joint thoroughly, as any grit from road dirt will grind the CV joint to bits in no time.
