Trying to replace the front drive flange after doing some work in there. Got the hubs nuts at the right tension with the locking ring thats all good but every time I replace the drive flange and tighten it up the whole hub locks up and wont spin at all. Its doing me head in! What am I doing wrong?

whoops just realised what it is ya doing. Must remember to engage brain before posting Have you ensured splines are clean and lined up before tightening up. also turn hub when flange nuts are hand tight

splines lined up? do the flange have to go on a specific way?

No but the hub has to be able to slide freely on the drive shaft if it doesn't it;ll bind up when you tighten the flange bolts. I alway clean em and grease em before fitting the flange and rotate it a couple of turns as I'm doing the bolts up.

it slides freely untill about the last 6mm when it seems a very tight fit to get inside the hub

you do have the correct flange there are 2 types thin and deep depending on CV and hub. Sounds similar problem when you are try and fit a skinny one to a deep type the insde of the drive member bottoms out on the hub nuts. Also are you sure that it locking up isnt locking up on the transmission like its connected to the drivetrain? diff lock engaged?
